Mom’s Night Out With #GracoSafety

Last Wednesday night was E’s first ever blogger event.

Oh, and mine too!

My anticipation and excitement was building all afternoon and by the time I picked up Katie of Healthy Heddleston, I had so much nervous energy I probably could have jumped out of my car and run around it 18 times.  Katie and I chatted excitedly on our way to the event, which was hosted by the wonderful Stephanie of A Belle Reve.

At Stephanie’s house, Katie and I met and mingled with 12 other bloggers.  We were all there for a special reason, we had been invited to attend the #GracoSafety Mom’s Night Out!  Stephanie introduced us all to the Graco Snugride Click Connect 40, the newest car seat released by Graco.

Stephanie explains some of the features of the Click Connect 40 while Amy of A Lot of Love & A Little Lady looks on.

Let me tell you, this car seat is pretty sweet!  It is the only rear-facing newborn to 2-year infant car seat.  You read that right, newborn to 2-years.  That’s 4 lb. to 40 lb.  And as we all know, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that all babies be rear-facing until 2 years of age. Why?  A rear-facing car seat better supports a baby’s body, including their spine and neck, and distributes the force of an impact over the whole body in the event of a crash.  Children that are rear-facing are 75% safer.

Stephanie and her son give the ladies a little car seat demo.

That seems pretty fantastic all on it’s own, right?  Just you wait, there’s more!  One concern that many parents have as their child grows is that they begin to look cramped and uncomfortable in their rear-facing car seat.  There simply isn’t enough leg room.  Well, Graco addresses that issue with this car seat.  It features an 8-position adjustable base, which allows it to grow with your child.

The adjustable base with eight positions and a level to ensure that baby properly secured.

In addition, the Simply Safe Adjust Harness System allows you to adjust the headrest and harness to the proper height with one hand.  No more pulling the entire car seat apart and then rethreading the harness!

The one-handed operable harness adjustment.

There’s also a little footrest to protect your vehicle’s seats.  Bonus!  The Click Connect 40 comes in two great colors/designs — Mena and Moonstruck.

The best part of this event was meeting so many amazing women bloggers but a close second was the fact that each of us got to take home a Graco Snugride Click Connect 40!  Ah-maze-ing!  Event swag for E!

Ooooooo, for me?

Papa Bear and I pulled our car seat, in the adorable Mena print, out of the box as soon as I got home.  We high-fived multiple times and geeked out over our new car seat.  I mean… E’s new car seat.

E and I were homebound most of Thursday and Friday thanks to my cold that just won’t quit but we finally installed the car seat in our Rav4 on Saturday and have been using it since.  We removed the newborn head insert (but left the body support because girlfriend has a skinny, little behind) and set the base at the 3rd position for Miss E.

E models with her new car seat.

Here are a few things I’ve noticed about the car seat since we began putting it to use.  Despite the larger base, the Click Connect 40 doesn’t seem to take up any more room than our Snugride 35 did.  Getting E into and out of the seat is very easy (we tend to leave the car seat in the car these days rather than carrying E back and forth in it).  I actually find it easier to tighten the harness of the Click Connect 40 than the harness of the Snugride 35.   E looks very comfortable in this seat, particularly when she falls asleep while we’re on the road.  The way the seat is reclined, combined with the cushioning around the head provides great support and keeps her head from lolling forward or hanging to the side.  All in all, I am loving the Graco Snugride Click Connect 40!

E’s pretty serious about her car seats. (Also, how cute are her little polka dotted baby thermals? Too cute!)

Thanks to Graco and thank you to Stephanie for hosting the #GracoSafety Mom’s Night out.  Both E and I had a lovely time!

The Graco SnugRide® Click Connect™ 40 – the first and only newborn to two-year infant car seat that actually grows with your baby from four pounds all the way up to 40 pounds. The car seat is designed for a parent on the go. The infant car seat can be easily removed from the base and used as a carrier when the infant is small, providing portability and convenience so you can easily move your infant in and out of the car without disturbing them.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recently made the recommendation to keep all children in rear-facing car seats until the age of 2. Graco set out to make this product so parents can keep infants rear facing longer while still keeping them comfortable.

Disclosure: I received a Graco Snugride Click Connect 40 for attending and blogging about the #GracoSafety Mom’s Night Out.  However, all opinions expressed here are my own.
